you can start you own Service business today without having to
spend, too much money on advertising. We all know that you can
sell products online, using online auctions, but how do you sell
services. We all hear the news that in the

application, file taxes, accounting, legal services, moving,
delivery, computer repair, website marketing, investment couches,
handyman, tile installation , screen repairs, window repairs
etc. There
are so many different types of services you can choose from,
but how do you get started? Well here is how I did
it. Several years ago, I lost my job and it
was in the late part of 2001. While looking for a new job, I found
some people who gave me a very simple idea about how I could make
some money to keep paying my bills. The idea was to open up a simple
service business. I am a computer service person, or IT
professional. The market in that area is competitive, and if you
want to advertise in a local newspaper or magazine flyers, you have
to pay close to $100 a week to advertise. I tried that for a few
weeks, but soon I realized that I was not getting enough business.
There had to be a cheaper way to advertise. So I tried making my own
paper flyers. I made some copies in the library and other career
centers. I made 4 flyers on each page to save paper and
photocopies. Then I
went to a large parking lot and put the flyers on lots of cars. Or I
would tape them to house doors, especially house in newly
constructed neighborhoods and then if I gave out enough flyers,
usually I would get one phone call for each 100 flyers that I gave
out. But the good news is that 100 flyers cost me less than $1 to
print on 20 pages of paper. You can compare this to the $100 a week
for an advertisement in the local newspaper. So this is how, in less than 2 weeks I
began to make at least $300 a week repairing computers, and
installing networks. I did the paper flyers as a way to get
started, but I did not really like to have to go give out flyer in
person. I wanted to find other ways to advertise effectively without
having to pay such high prices. I considered the phone book,
but even that costs $50 or more a month. But then one day I got an
email from computer repair.com I think they have a new name now, but
what they do is let you sign up for free and they get you leads and
let you and a few other local companies compete for different
computer services. They
do the advertising and you just get five or 10 percent less for the
job. You become the
service provider and they do the advertising in advance. You also get rated by the
customers, so then you have a chance to charge a little more
money. The way I found this is by searching on
the different search engines, I was searching for “local Miami Pc
repair” and I was just testing keywords for my own website. If you use this same method,
you will find similar services that deal with other types of service
businesses.
I know that Uhaul has one for the moving
business, and there are some other ones for home improvement
business too. Once you
sign up with any of these sites you will have to be willing to
charge a lower price for your services. You only have to do that
until you acquire positive feedback and then you can raise your
prices. But the good news is that you do not have
to pay a penny for advertising until after you get paid. It’s
similar to giving your resume to a recruiter, they find you a job
and they get their commission.
